Bunny Ears

I had to teach a fourth grader how to tie his shoes today! We were going to PE, and he asked me if I would tie his shoes. I basically said that you are a fourth grader, and you should be able to tie your own shoes! He did not say anything more until we were outside the gym, and the rest of the students had gone inside. He was on the ground crying. He told me that he didn't know how to tie his shoes. Furthermore, I realized that this student was one of my learning disabled students, and had a hard time with things anyway. I felt like such a dork! So, I got down on the ground and taught this sweet little boy all about the bunny ears. It was a huge lesson in patience. I realized that teachers are not just teaching academics. We are also teaching these little life lessons every day! This student did not need help with his multiplication facts. He needed help with bunny ears. It was a huge lesson for me to stop and think of what each of my students need.

I am so grateful

Tonight, I got in a small car accident. When I mean small, I mean that neither of us could see any physical damages to any car. I thought she was going to turn left, and though I wasn't going fast, I put on my brakes as fast and as hard as a I could, but I did tap her car in the process.
There was a police officer right behind us (lucky me) and we did an information exchange, and everything is going to work out fine.

The worst part about this whole thing was that I had my sister's three children in the backseat of my car. I have been watching them this week while my sister has been away at girl's camp. I am so grateful that they are safe. I would have never forgiven myself if something were to happen to them. They are so wonderful, and I love them so much! I feel so awful! We have had such a fun time these past couple of days. WE WERE JUST COMMING HOME FROM MY NEPHEW'S BASEBALL GAME when all this happened.

I just want to say how grateful I am that these precious children are ok. I know that we were protected. Their seatbelts were secure. They were so brave when the officer came by. I am so grateful for my brother-in-law being so understanding and caring during this whole situation. I probably appoligized to him 20 times, and I owe him so much more! I am so grateful for my dad for being so understanding as well. Like the title of this blog says: "I am so grateful"

The World of Blogging

Well, I decided to start blogging. I really don't know why. My life really isn't that interesting. I have no fascinating stories to tell, or really deep lessons or thoughts to share. But I guess I just wanted to preserve what I do know and what I do have. So, I think blogging is the best way to do that! This is a great way to journal, and I am excited to enter the world of blogging!
